Message from the Chairperson of the Board

Welcome to UCD – Ultimate Concern for the Deprived! This is the beginning of a grand notion of provision of a helping hand to those who are deprived of their lives and livelihoods. I believe that this will go down as one of the most unique years in our history for the prospective humane and generous acts we all are ready to kick start.  The current pandemic has been a hardship on all of us. We have seen how fragile that our lives are. We have also witnessed the precariousness of our business community. As the Board Chairperson of UCD, I am grateful to be surrounded by a wonderful board members and founding associates that shared vision for access, equity and inclusiveness in the humanitarian and emergency interventions in Ethiopia. The relevance of potential humanitarian operations is being the questions in light of the growth and ever-changing environment. Our collective call for the out prospective humanitarian partners would be a community action and to serve others is deeply rooted in all of us and UCD will help us answer the calls by the Deprived through providing the tools for the community at all levels to survive and thrive in the face of real needs for life saving and livelihood recovery I do earnestly encourage all of our potential partners from the Government at all levels, the Donor and INGO Community, the private Sector the CBOs to join us in service with your support, expertise, and participation. Welcome again and all the best as we head forward.

Ultimate Concern for the Deprived (UCD) is an indigenous, nonprofit non-governmental organization established in 2021. It has been registered and licensed by the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Organization for Civil Society Agency as an Ethiopian Residents Charity in accordance with the Agency and Societies Proclamation No.621/2019.

Our Overall Objective

The overall objective of UCD is to ensure enhanced ability in the target communities to tackle their own risk related problems as part of sustainable community development

Our Approach

During the entire process of humanitarian/emergency programming, UCD adopts a participatory, self-help, self-sustainable approach through community involvement and formation of volunteer groups in remote rural areas of risk affected locations.
